Chinese bicyclist carrying a what?

We have been taking lots of taxis here and there, or the shuttle that is provided by our building. It gives me the chance to take pictures of what is going on outside.

While there’s just general traffic here – it is a city of 15 million people – most drivers are doing the right thing. I would say, just from observing, that being on offense is the name of the game, and shoving your way into a lane is acceptable.  (We have bought a car from a family heading to a different post, but can’t drive it until we get our local drivers licenses.)

Yesterday, we were on the way to the kids’ gymnastics class and we saw this brave, balanced man driving a television somewhere, using only the back of his bike and some well-tied rope.

He didn’t look worried, he wasn’t in a hurry, and I feel pretty confident he made it there all in one piece.  While I’m rarely surprised to see anything being transported by bicycle, in Brazil, or in China, it is always fun to see it in action. :)

Check out what this Chinese bicyclist was able to do! Steady there, buddy!

Delivery guy on a bike....carrying a television through the busy streets of Guangzhou!

And he's off into the traffic flow. I wonder how much the delivery fee is on that?

About

Currently, I’m globetrotting with my family as my husband is a Vice Consul with the United States Foreign Service.

Our first post was Recife, PE, Brazil, and we arrived in August 2010. Upon arrival, our daughter had just turned four and our superbaby son had just turned three months.

During the summer of 2013, our family of four moved to Guangzhou, China, for a two-year post. Our daughter is seven and our son is three.
