We went to Ikea in Guangzhou as a family on Sunday after church. We had a couple of items we wanted to buy, but we mostly went for the cultural experience! I will say that even in the US, Ikea on the weekend is pretty nutty and not my favorite thing to do, but alas, when in Guangzhou….
As we had been told, the Chinese make themselves very comfortable in Ikea! The idea of testing the furniture, beds, and items is a different concept for us than to them.
Also, this is the most crowded place we have seen so far in Guangzhou. And, even though there were tons of people, it was organized chaos.
I’m pretty sure we’ll be returning for our moose-shaped pasta on a day other than Sunday. And, we probably wouldn’t want to buy floor samples from this Ikea!
A family trip to Ikea in Guangzhou…..we were not the only family to have this idea on a Sunday afternoon!
This is the marketplace below us as we ascend into the gallery rooms. Breathing room anyone?
Catching up on social media….together….on the couch.
Planning their next weekend getaway at the kitchen table. I heard there’s an Ikea in Beijing….let’s try that one!
Even babies need the opportunity to try out the furniture for real!
Everyone is very interested in this living room!
I love this picture – a pair of friends deep in conversation, a girl in the middle taking a load off (looking bored), and a lady just passing the time! What a functional couch!
This family happens to match the bedding. Note that the bed is all rumpled up – they all look like that in Ikea b/c they have all been tested out thoroughly!
My daughter tried out the furniture, but only stayed for about thirty seconds. We are sooooo American!
Our main purchase – an easel so we can start on our art projects. This is one of the things we love to do in our Home Sweet (China) Home!
